Takeover for Dirty Girl

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The company that owned the rights to the Dirty Girl Mud Run is out of the business and the canceled Charleston event is apparently one of the reasons why.

According to a statement on the Dirty Girl Mud Run Facebook page Monday morning, Human Movement, a Colorado-based event company, has acquired the assets to the event from 100 LLC. Human Movement previously served as the sub-contractor of Dirty Girl, producing the events but did not handle the operations or finances.

Last week, 100 LLC canceled the Dirty Girl Mud Run last Saturday in Charleston. More than 2,600 women had signed up for the event, shelling out between $65 and $95 to participated in the 5K mud run. 100 LLC released a statement saying IT would not be providing refunds. However, the company who handles ticket sales for the event, Eventbrite, in an agreement with West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, agreed to return the entrance fees for those women who purchased tickets through their company.

The Monday statement from Human Movement said, “It became clear that change was needed when an event in West Virginia was originally canceled with no refunds (this has since changed). While Human Movement was not responsible for canceling this event, it was clearly an undesirable outcome for anyone involved. At that time, Human Movement made an attempt to save the WV event with their own limited resources and then ultimately offered to acquire 100 LLC’s assets, and will be responsible for operating future Dirty Girl events.

Human Movement is committed to providing the highest quality experience for all Dirty Girl participants, and will be transparent with communication regarding future Dirty Girl events as decisions are made this week.”
