PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Motorists who use the Parkersburg Memorial Bridge are going to have to adjust their daily routines. The bridge closes Monday for two weeks.

The work will include the replacement of two expansion joints and the replacement of part of the span’s concrete deck and curb.

The bridge spans the Ohio River and connects Parkersburg with Belpre, Ohio.

I don't know how they're going to fix that wreck in two weeks. I went across it with a bike on a trailer and has to stop to re-tie the bike. It is as bad as any road in southern WV.

With three bridges within 5-ish miles of river, the loss of one is not much of an issue.

For the sake of clarification, the closest bridge in the photo is the Parkersburg-Belpre Bridge; it is not the one being repaired. The Memorial Bridge, the one being repaired, is in the far distance; it can be seen "underneath" the two closer bridges. It is a toll bridge.

The second close bridge is the CSX Railroad Bridge.

Hopefully, the expansion joint closest to Ohio will not be put in with a garden hoe this time.
