CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A team of West Virginia firefighters is scheduled to arrive in California Tuesday to begin preparations to take part in battling wildfires. The team left Charleston Monday for a 14-day tour of duty.

“We have an excellent crew and we are proud to send them to California to represent West Virginia,” state Forester Randy Dye said.

The team is made up of 16 Division of Forestry staff members and four specially trained volunteer firefighters. They traveled to Harrisburg, Pa., Monday and are scheduled to fly to California Tuesday.
