Woman dead in St. Albans fire

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. — For the second time in a week the St. Albans Fire Department is investigating a tragedy.

Authorities say Gwendolyn Saulton, 53, died in a fire early Sunday morning on Washington Ave. The blaze broke out about 5 a,m. She was the only one home.

Neighbors said Saulton shared the home with her brother.

It’s the second fatal fire in five days for the city. Last Wednesday, 59-year-old Paul Wilson and 50-year-old Lisa Dillon were killed a fire at their home at Benedict Circle.

A cause for the most recent fire is under investigation by the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
