McGRAWS, W.Va. — An argument escalated into gunfire in Wyoming County, leaving one man dead, one wounded and one in jail Wednesday night.

WV Regional Jails

James Green, 37, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Ernie Cline.

“Upon arrival we had one victim dead at the scene and one suffering from another gunshot wound,” said Wyoming County Sheriff Randall Aliff.

Deputies arrested Ravencliff resident James Green, 37, who was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. Green was taken to the Southern Regional Jail.

Ernie Cline, 26, of Kopperston was killed and Jesse Grabeal, 28, of McGraws was flown to the Charleston Area Medical Center and remained in stable condition.

Green was visiting his aunt in the McGraws Community.

“An altercation started outside the house,” said Aliff. “Greene went outside to investigate and that’s when the shooting started. We’re not sure what the altercation is over. That’s still under investigation.”

Don't over-analyze . Simple explanation- drugs, alcohol, and guns are a DEADLY combination

So, Green was inside the house at the private residence of his aunt's when an altercation started outside and Green went out to investigate and that's when the shooting started... So as far as any of US know at this point, the shooting is justifiable..

Please bring back the death penalty.

  • Chris

Everyone blames it on the guns it takes a human to pull the trigger if it ant guns it's drugs or knives what are they gonna do band knives

  • James

When your founding fathers put the clause in the Bill of Rights for the right to bear arms, it was for hunting and protecting your land out in the wilderness, and they were at war with the Brits, pretty sure they didnt mean for every Dick, Tom, and Harry to carry one on their hip, problem is their are to many punks and cowards who rather shoot some1 then take an ass whipping, whatever happen to fighting and shaking hands the next day, weapons are the easy way out, take your ass whipping like a man, and live to see the next day, but that will never happen because the majority people can't use their hands, bunch of gun toting cowards

I agree 100% I know the man killed wonderful man. He believed in fighting not shooting this man really took out a good man

Since my original is awaiting "moderation" for likely use of a dirty word, let me amend it by omitting the exact word you used
Well, James, this ole'boy aint taken no "whippin"---

Aside of your grossly inaccurate interpretation of the 2nd you believe any man passed his prime should keep his mouth shut, mind his manners in the presence of the more physically dominate or just take a "whoopin"----- Sounds like you are likely a bully and prescribe maybe to Tyranny as your preferred form of government....

To paraphrase a Colt advertisement: "God didn't make all men equal, Sam Colt did".

I am for achieving a world without violence just as much as you and everyone else, I just happen to understand a world without guns isn't going to achieve it....

Let's STOP murder! We need our politicians to outlaw murder! Oh wait. It already is against the law to murder somebody. Wait a minute...people are not allowed to break the law...why do they continue to do it?!?! (there is a little more to it than inanimate objects and making laws...how about human behavior and accountability)

    • BIM Job

ACCOUNTABILITY... You hit the nail on the head. There is none. We live in a society where everything is always someone or something else's fault. Nobody is accountable for anything.

I just got back from McDowell Co. On the way I visited one fast food rest, one gas station, stopped and talked to 5 different people on business and my sidearm did not jump out and assault anyone. HMMMM! Maybe it is not the firearm. If you are interested please visit http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8 and you will see that there are many other ways to commit murder.
A fire arm is a tool, just like a hammer or a saw. Used correctly they can protect you, feed you, and if you are interested in competition they can amuse you. However like other tool they can do real harm also.
The cdc reports that In 2010, 10,228 were killed by distracted and drunk driving. How did it work when the government outlawed alcohol?

  • Gary Karstens

    Guns! Guns! Guns!

    Shootings! Shootings! Shootings!

When are we going to wake up and realize that people just can't enjoy freedoms any more. We are at a point where the government has to step in because they know what is better for people than the people themselves. Gun ownership must be outlawed.

Another day....another shooting with an instrument of death. Bearing arms in WV! YEESH!

    • SPRUCEKNOB

Let's try what Gary has suggested. Let's have the government step in and control our lives. We need to do it on a trial basis first however so Gary why don't you be the first one to let the government control your life? for the next 5 years you have to get government permission to do anything (including posting on this site). after the 5 years are over then we will look at this trial plan and see if we want to roll it out to anyone else.

    • will

      Seriously. Go away.

    • Hop'sHip

Am I the only one suspicious of Gary's motives? He always seems to say what you all believe a liberal would day. Does anyone really believe someone genuinely concerned with gun violence would say "the government has to step in because they know what is better for people than the people themselves." We have a reverse Stephen Colbert - but without the humor.

      • Ricky

Are you suggesting that if metronews expanded their news coverage beyond the usual 'if it bleeds, it leads..' style that Gary would move on?

        • Hop'sHip

Well that too. But my main point is that Gary sounds like a liberal-hater impersonating what he think a liberal would say.

          • Jason412

            Hops,

I believe you hit the nail on the head. The funniest part is how he no longer even has to post in the gun articles, others make posts directed at him before he even posts.

          • Randy

I swear I have been wondering that for 5 or 6 months. Or if it's a joke and we are being punked. But not in a Karstonian way.

          • Gary Karstens

Maybe Gary isn't afraid to say it!!!! YEESH!

    • hillbilly

When guns are outlawed.... only outlaws will have guns. And the law abiding citizens will be at the mercy of them.

    • Marion

      Gary ?! For real ?!!!

  • Roger

Another daggone gun just up and shot two people. I don't understand whats getting wrong with guns these days that they act like that. Its surely not the idiots fault that are behind them. Ban guns, no way, ban people, most definitely. Seriously, shootings are an epidemic and I'm sure its going to get worse... very sad.....

    • Jason

      +1

    • Jason

Killing people is outlawed (except justified killing by the government via War and Cap. Punishment) and it still happens...laws only change the behavior of law abiding citizens...what we as a society need to focus on...is not an inanimate object...but the actions and decisions of humans...we need to educate and teach people...do all we can to make people understand that it is the wrong choice to pull the trigger on somebody. Inanimate objects do nothing without a person making a wrong choice.
