2 shot, man charged in Wyoming County

McGRAWS, W.Va. — An argument escalated into gunfire in Wyoming County, leaving one man dead, one wounded and one in jail Wednesday night.

James Green, 37, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Ernie Cline.

“Upon arrival we had one victim dead at the scene and one suffering from another gunshot wound,” said Wyoming County Sheriff Randall Aliff.

Deputies arrested Ravencliff resident James Green, 37, who was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. Green was taken to the Southern Regional Jail.

Ernie Cline, 26, of Kopperston was killed and Jesse Grabeal, 28, of McGraws was flown to the Charleston Area Medical Center and remained in stable condition.

Green was visiting his aunt in the McGraws Community.

“An altercation started outside the house,” said Aliff. “Greene went outside to investigate and that’s when the shooting started. We’re not sure what the altercation is over. That’s still under investigation.”
