SHINNSTON, W. Va. – A toddler who accidentally shot himself in the foot last week is out of the hospital.

The three-year-old was released from Ruby Memorial Hospital on Friday and authorities have said he is recovering well.

On Thursday, Harrison County EMS responded to the boy’s home at around 2 a.m. on Bridge Street in Shinnston.

Not many details are available related to the incident. If the shooting is ruled to be accidental, charges might not be filed.

The investigation is being conducted by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.

    Sounds to me like someone needs to do a little more investigation into this story. At 2am a three year old shoots himself in the foot? Come on. Really? Where are the parents? How does a three year old get his hands on a gun? What is he doing up at 2am? Sounds like there may be a little more to the story than what this article tells.

    I personally believe that if a gun is left where a small child can access it, there should be charges. To me this is neglect. This is where smart guns would have prevented an accident.
