Head-on crash leaves 2 dead in Monongalia County

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Two people were killed and three others injured in two-vehicle crash that happened early Sunday morning in Monongalia County.

The Monongalia County Sheriffs Office said the accident occurred on Fairmont Road, about a mile south of Sugar Grove Road at about 1:15 a.m.

One of the vehicles was traveling north and appeared to cross into the southbound lane where it struck an oncoming vehicle. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and the others were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

The names of the victims had not been released as of Sunday afternoon.
