Man charged in deadly Raleigh County fire

RALEIGH COUNTY, W.Va. — A man was charged with arson for allegedly setting the mobile home fire in Raleigh County that claimed the life of a man Sunday night in the Soak Creek area.

On Monday, state police arrested Carl Cox, 36, on two counts of first-degree arson.

David Davis, 56, died in the mobile home fire Cox is accused of starting, a blaze that spread to a second mobile home.

Police and officials with the state fire marshal’s office were still investigating the blaze.

Troopers said Tuesday additional charges were pending.

Three firefighters were injured while fighting the flames when they were hit with falling debris. Another firefighter suffered smoke inhalation.
