Fourth suspect arrested in Charleston Foodland robbery

Charleston PD
Telisa McCauley and Alisyn Proctor are suspected of driving the getaway car and remain at large

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston Police arrested a fourth suspect believed to have been involved in the robbery of the Kanawha City Foodland store in Charleston. A clerk in the store was shot in the heist. Police say the latest suspect is 17 and could not say much about his role.

“The suspect is a juvenile and he’s being charged with first degree robbery,” said Lieutenant Steve Cooper, Chief of Detectives with the Charleston Police Department. “His role was that he was a lookout during the robbery.”

Cooper said police believe they have identified all six people who were involved in the late night holdup. He also suggested what may have played a role in targeting the store.

“John Proctor used to work there,” Cooper said.

Proctor, 19, is the suspect charged with shooting clerk Shawna Sampson in the office area during the robbery.  Sampson remained in stable condition on Tuesday.

Police are still looking for Telisa McCauley and Alisyn Proctor who were allegedly promised $3,000 each for driving the getaway car.

“I’m inviting them to turn themselves in,” said Cooper. “It’s just a matter of time until they are caught and their flight only strengthens our case.”
