PORTLAND, Ohio — A person was taken into custody Saturday in Meigs County, Ohio after a body was found along the Ohio River.
Police from West Virginia were called to the scene not long after some people on the river discovered the body near Portland, Ohio. Police said it was wrapped in a tarp with a cement block tied around it.
Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies were among those on the scene.
The Meigs County Sheriff’s Department has not released a possible identity of the body. There’s also been no name released of the person taken into custody.
Some reports indicate the body may be that of Cross Lanes teenager Ericka Brown, 16, but there’s been no confirmation from authorities. Brown was last seen earlier this month. The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department has been looking for her and expanded its search into Ohio last week.
