Body recovered in Monongahela River

SMITHTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Police say an autopsy will be conducted on the body of a Monongalia County man found in the Monongahela River on Labor Day.

Police said the body of Manuel Nicholas Nevera, 39, of River Road, was spotted near Little Falls Road, off Smithtown Road.

Investigators said a man was boating on the river and was flagged down by some people parked at a nearby dock. The showed the boater where the body was located in the water. He investigated to make certain there was actually a body in the water and notified emergency officials.
