GOSHEN ROAD, W.Va. — A 12-year-old boy was stuck and killed Tuesday morning in an accident on U.S. Route 119, said Monongalia County Sheriff Al Kisner.

The boy, a student at South Middle School in Morgantown, was attempting to cross the highway near the intersection with Goshen Road just before 7 a.m. when a vehicle traveling south struck him. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, Kisner said.

No charges have been filed against the driver, though Kisner said an investigation continues.

The name of the victim has not been released.

The busy highway was closed for about three hours.

This is so tragic for all involved. The family lost their precious son and the driver will have to live with that for the rest of their life. So very sad.

  • Apple

The driver should be charged for speeding. It is a little too late but at least he will remember not to do it again!

    • Amanda

How do you know the driver was speeding? I heard it was foggy that day too so maybe it was hard to see.

  • Kristy

    the victim was Hunter Montero

  • so sorry

The Indy500 would be a lot safer because those professional that drive the Indy500 know the rules and go by them! No one obeys the speed limits on that road! All they do is give you the finger, especially by the flashing yellow caution light!!!!, and especially the women in their high dollar SUV's. The speed limit does not pertain to them!!! I have pulled off the road many times to let them pass me
Love and Prayers to the little fellow’s family!

I'll wait until the investigation is complete. At this time, I just offer my prayers to his family. What a tragedy.

What a tragedy - they travel that road as if it were the Indy500. Probably just a boy trying to go to school.

    • Apple

Yes, it was a boy going to school. Met this boy recently. Lovely young man with so much potential. What tragic news. The family are devastated. Feel their pain.

    • Family Friend

He was just a boy crossing the road for the school bus. He wasn't a small frail lad either, which tells you the idiot that hit him was obviously going faster than he should have been. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
