Boy, 12, killed crossing highway near Morgantown

GOSHEN ROAD, W.Va. — A 12-year-old boy was stuck and killed Tuesday morning in an accident on U.S. Route 119, said Monongalia County Sheriff Al Kisner.

The boy, a student at South Middle School in Morgantown, was attempting to cross the highway near the intersection with Goshen Road just before 7 a.m. when a vehicle traveling south struck him. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, Kisner said.

No charges have been filed against the driver, though Kisner said an investigation continues.

The name of the victim has not been released.

The busy highway was closed for about three hours.
