Ericka Brown’s father posts message for other parents

CROSS LANES, W.Va. — The father of a murdered Kanawha County teenager filed a message on Facebook Tuesday urging parents to monitor the online activity of their children.

Police said David Wayne Brown’s 16-year-old daughter Ericka was killed in Meigs County, Ohio. Police have charged Ernest Michael Roach, 36, of Racine, Ohio, with both having sex with Brown and killing her. Investigators said the two met after Brown posted a message on Craigslist seeking relationships with men.

David Brown’s Facebook message to other parents urged them to know what their children are doing.

“Make sure you know what sites they are on. Children can be so private and that’s a dangerous place to be. I don’t want any other family to have to go thru the pain my wife and me are going thru,” he wrote.

David Brown  lamented he could no longer hug his daughter.

“Please hug your children tonight and tell them what they mean to you, [If i just] had the opportunity to hug and tell Ericka how much she meant to me one more time.”
