Putnam man gets 15 years for killing brother

WINFIELD, W.Va. — A Scott Depot man who killed his older brother was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday.

A judge sentenced Jonathan Facemyre, 26, for the second-degree murder of Michael Facemyre.

The two men lived together and had a history of trouble. Jonathan Facemyer originally faced first-degree murder charges before pleading guilty in July to the lesser charge.

Prosecutors agreed to the plea agreement after talking to the parents, who did not want their son to spend the rest of his life in prison.

The two got into a fight at the home they shared on Thomas Drive on Aug. 14, 2013, and the 36-year-old Facemyer was beaten to death.
