Two dead in separate panhandle wrecks

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Two men were killed in separate traffic accidents in the Eastern Panhandle Thursday night into Friday morning.

State Troopers said Bunker Hill resident Malik Griffith, 44, was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a passenger vehicle on U.S. Route 11 late Thursday night. Griffith was thrown from his bike.

Police in Jefferson County said Gary Heflin, 56, of Charles Town, died after a crash Friday morning on Route 340.

Investigators said Heflin lost control his truck and it went through the median a guardrail and over an embankment.

Police are continuing investigations in both crashes.
