13 apply for judge’s job in Kanawha County

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Thirteen attorneys have made application to be the next circuit judge in Kanawha County.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin will choose the replacement for Judge Paul Zakaib who recently retired after nearly 30 years on the bench. Zakaib, 81, has been appointed senior status judge by the state Supreme Court and will remain on the bench until a replacement is chosen.

Those applying for the position include, Webster J. Arceneaux III, Daniel W. Greear, Richard J. Lindtroth, Leah Perry Macia, Erica M. Mani, Benjamin M. Mishoe, John R. Mitchell, Jr., Richard A. Monahan, Gary E. Pullin, Charles Francis Woods Saffer, Walton S. Shepherd III, Joanna I. Tabit and Lisa A. Tackett.

Interviews by the state Judicial Vacancy Commission are scheduled for Sept. 26. There are two years remaining in Judge Zakaib’s term.
