CHARLESTON, W.Va. — An Ohio man waived extradition Tuesday during a brief hearing in Kanawha County Circuit Court. Ernest Roach will now return there to face murder charges.
Roach, 36, of Racine, Ohio, allegedly killed Kanawha County teenager Ericka Brown last month and then left the 16-year-old’s body along the Ohio River in a plastic tarp with a block tied to it. It was located near Portland, Ohio, Aug. 30.
Roach told police he met Brown online after she had placed a Craigslist ad. He was originally charged with going across state lines to have sex with a minor but the federal charge was dropped last week in favor of the Ohio murder charge.
The Meigs County, Ohio grand jury took up the case last Friday. Information about a possible indictment could be released as soon as Tuesday afternoon.
