Driver crawls out of burning car after interstate plunge

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston police say it’s a miracle a woman survived a wreck Friday morning that sent her car plunging off the interstate and into a gravel pile.

It happened at about 1a.m. when India Hall, 24, of Charleston, lost control of her vehicle near the Interstate 64/77 split. The car went over the interstate retaining wall and plunged toward the city’s maintenance garage near Pennsylvania Ave. The car burst into flames in the gravel yard.

Police initially thought Hall was thrown from the wreckage but they’ve since learned she crawled out of the burning car.

Hall is in critical condition at CAMC and said to be improving.
