KEYSER, W.Va. — The Mineral County Sheriff’s Department has released additional information in connection with a shooting death in the community of Cross Wednesday night.
Deputies said Michael Wayne Myers, 57, called 911 and told dispatchers he had just shot his wife in the head and she was dead.
Mineral County deputies and West Virginia State Police Troopers arrived on the scene where Myers was found sitting on the front porch of his home. He was arrested without incident. Deputies located the victim in an upstairs bedroom and identified her as Valarie Kay Myers, 57.
Police said the victim had two separate gunshot wounds to the head. It’s believed the couple had been drinking and began to argue.
Investigators recovered a .45 caliber handgun at the scene.
