Truck driver struck and killed along I-77

GOLDTOWN, W.Va. — A truck driver was killed Wednesday morning alongside I-77 in Jackson County when he was struck by another tractor trailer.

Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs said Charles Boyd, 36, of Dunbar, was pulled off the interstate at the Goldtown exit with the hood up looking at the truck’s engine. The driver of a southbound tractor trailer struck Boyd and the parked truck.

The sheriff said the driver knew he had struck the truck and after he pulled over he discovered he had also hit the driver.

An investigation into the accident is underway. Sheriff Boggs said it was very foggy in Jackson County Wednesday morning. The accident occurred at about 6:30 a.m.
