George Washington lineman Smith commits to Kent State

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — George Washington tackle David Smith on Thursday received a full scholarship offer and committed to play for Kent State.

The senior stands in at 6-foot-5, 290 pounds.

“I went up there for their junior day and I really liked it. As soon as a went to the camp and learned from them, I knew that’s where I wanted to be,” Smith told MetroNews’ Chris Lawrence. “I just loved the whole place up there. I have been thinking about it for the while and I decided if they did offer, I would commit there.”

Kent State offensive line coach Shawn Clark is a George Washington graduate, himself.

“He knows so many people up there and there was a connection with us at George Washington,” Smith said. “I really like him. He was a great guy.”

Smith also had an offer from Concord and wrestling offer from Campbell. Kent State is expected to utilize Smith along the offensive line at guard.
