GameNight: Capital 35, Cabell Midland 28

ONA, W.Va. — Class AAA No. 1 Capital (6-0) stayed unbeaten on the season, handing No. 2 Cabell Midland (6-1) its first loss, 35-28, in week seven of the high school football season.

Capital led 21-14 at the break as running back Kashuan Haley returned for the Cougars, putting up 142 yards and scoring three touchdowns in that first half. Cabell Midland tied the game at 28-28 with a 75-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Coy Petitt to junior Jacob Hendricks with just 2:30 to go in the contest.

The Cougars, though, responded just 42 seconds later with a 31 yard touchdown run from senior running back Tyrell Davis to grab the decisive score and take the win. Haley finished with 216 rushing yards and those three scores in the win.

Cabell Midland’s Alex Childers finished with 201 yards rushing and one touchdown in the loss.
