Crash claims life of Putnam County man

RED HOUSE, W.Va. — An early morning accident claimed the life of a Putnam County man.

Putnam County Deputies say Adam Shawver, 26, of Red House was killed about 5:45 a.m. on Route 34 in the Red House community.  Deputies say a car was turning off Route 34 into a convenience store when Shawver topped a hill and struck him head on.  A third vehicle also topped the hill after the initial crash and struck Shawver’s vehicle in the rear.

Shawver was killed instantly. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to the hospital.  Authorities have not identified the second driver.
