Probable cause hearing delayed for Harrison County Magistrate

CLARKSBURG, W. Va. — A probable cause hearing for a Harrison Magistrate accused of sex crimes against a minor has been postponed.

Magistrate Mark Gorby was originally scheduled to appear before Kim Blair, the special Magistrate assigned to the case on Wednesday. However, one of Gorby’s lawyers in in the process of becoming licensed to practice law in the Mountain State.

Blair delayed the hearing one week, to 11 a.m. on October 29.

Monongalia County Prosecutor Marcia Ashdown will be the special prosecutor for the case.

Gorby is facing five counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person in a position of trust to a child. If convicted, he faces 10 to 20 years in prison per count.
