MORGANTOWN, W.Va.— West Virginia’s 2015 recruiting class is nearing capacity, with as few as four spots remaining after a weekend commitment from Florida defensive lineman Adam Shuler.
Rivals and 247 Sports currently rank the Mountaineers’ class No. 18 nationally, while Scout has West Virginia one spot lower. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Shuler became the 21st commitment, stepping into a spot vacated by junior college defensive end Larry Jefferson, who recently flipped to Iowa State.
Who’s left on West Virginia’s wish list?
“They would like at least one more D-lineman, one more running back, another linebacker and maybe a best-athlete available type of player,” said Kevin Kinder of BlueGoldNews.com.
Shuler holds offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Purdue, Memphis and UMass, and he finally received an offer from West Virginia after visiting for the Kansas game on Oct. 4.
“He has liked West Virginia for a long time,” Kinder said. “He has played tight end and defensive end and could play anywhere along the defensive line. He’s a mobile, tall kid with a good wing span.
“He could stay outside and be a big defensive end or he could get up to 290 and slide inside and keep that athleticism to get after the quarterback.”

Keenan Cummings, recruiting writer for WVSports.com of the Rivals network, said West Virginia’s remaining targets on the defensive line include a pair of three-star prospects, Philadelphia’s Shareef Miler and Lakeland, Fla., Reuben Jones.
Miller is a top Pitt target but has an expansive list of interested schools in Arizona State, Rutgers, Virginia Tech and Penn State.
Jones said last week that WVU was in his top three with Michigan State and Nebraska.
At the nose guard spot, the Mountaineers continue pursuing four-star Tim Settle of Manassas, Va.. The 6-2, 325-pounder holds 38 offers, including Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas and Virginia Tech.
