Man sprays mace at officers

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A State Police trooper and Cabell County security officer had to battle a cloud of mace Friday night as they were trying to subdue the man who sprayed it.

Police had Dan White, Jr., at the Cabell County Courthouse for arraignment on several misdemeanor charges. They took his handcuffs off so he could use the restroom. He came out of the restroom with the mace and sprayed the officers.

The trooper took White to the floor as other officers were called in to help. White now faces additional charges. The trooper had to go to the hospital to be treated for a cut to his head.
