Vienna woman found dead of gunshot wound in Wirt County

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — A Vienna woman was found dead of a gunshot wound to the back of the head in a wooded area of Wirt County on Friday afternoon.

The body of Cindy Ball, 38, of Vienna, was discovered Friday in Wirt County.

Investigators with the West Virginia state police learned Cindy Diane Ball, 38, of Central Drive in Vienna was reported missing Thursday night by her brother. Troopers said Ball was last seen Wednesday night at a bar on Parkersburg’s Emerson Avenue. She left her purse inside.

Two hunters found Ball’s body near Sugar Camp Road in Wirt County. Troopers said late Friday they believe Ball was killed in another location and her body moved there.

Investigators are also looking into a message Ball posted on Facebook Sunday concerning items stolen out of her car and vandalism to the vehicle. “i know who it was…karma will get him for sure..,” the message read.

Anyone with information on Ball’s disappearance or death is asked to call the Parkersburg state police detachment at 304-420-4600.
