Body discovered in Dunbar identified

DUNBAR, W.Va. — A body discovered in Dunbar Sept. 19 has been identified. The state Medical Examiner concludes the victim is Christa Romaine Collier, 36, of Nitro.

Collier’s body was badly decomposed when it was discovered in an abandoned building at the corner of 19th Street and Myers Ave. People walking by on the street noticed a large swarm of flies on the windows of the building and could smell a foul odor.

Police did not indicate if the forensic team was able to determine a cause of death. However, they said foul play is not suspected, but still has not been totally ruled out in Collier’s death.

Dunbar police are asking anyone who may have information about Collier and how she would up in the location to give them a call at 304-766-0204.
