U.S. Marshals arrest Marion County man for failing to appear in court

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — A man who failed to appear for sentencing was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Morgantown.

Martin Brooks, 24, of Fairmont was apprehend Friday on Arch Street without incident after being wanted on a capias warrant –a warrant to essentially ensure an appearance in court.

He entered a guilty plea to sexual assault and was free on bond prior to his scheduled hearing in September.

Deputy U.S. Marshals had been searching for Brooks for approximately one month before locating him at his friend’s house while on the run.

Brooks will be sent to North Central Regional Jail until he is scheduled for his sentencing by the circuit court in Marion County.
