Man pleads guilty in Mercer County murder

PRINCETON, W.Va. — A Wyoming County man pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree murder and robbery in connection with a 2011 shooting death in Mercer County.

Oscar Combs, Jr., 22, of Herndon, admitted he killed James “Bo” Butler during a robbery on Herndon Mountain. His mother, Linda Combs and father Oscar Combs, Sr. were also initially charged. Charges have been dropped against Linda Combs and remain against Combs, Sr.

Oscar Combs, Jr. faces a minimum of 15 years in prison. He’ll be sentenced at a later date.
