WELCH, W.Va. — An Ohio teenager reported missing two years ago was found in McDowell County Friday according to Welch police.
Chief E.A. Muncy said his officers responded to a domestic call at a Welch hotel Friday morning. Once the 18-year-old woman was in a police cruiser she gave officers her real name. Police said Dajanae Harmon was 16 when she disappeared from Columbus in 2012. She told police Friday she wanted to go home.
Harmon was classified as an endangered runaway.
Chief Muncy said Harmon had been living with Joseph Redford Crawley, 50. The two had spent time in Baltimore, Maryland but moved to McDowell County where Crawley had relatives. Crawley is believed the be the father of Harmon’s one-year-old child.
Police charged Crawley with domestic assault and possession of marijuana. Additional charges could come in Ohio and Maryland.
Harmon was being kept in a secure location until her father arrived from Columbus.
