Layoffs possible at Mingo coal operations

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — A southern West Virginia coal operator has announced possible layoffs at its operations in Mingo County.

Hendricks Coal issued a WARN notice recently that said 90 workers at three mines and a prep plant could be laid off next month.

Thirty-six coal miners lost their jobs Monday at a Alpha Natural Resources subsidiary in McDowell County.
