Charges move forward in Wayne County double stabbing

WAYNE, W.Va. — Murder-related charges against three Wayne County residents will be considered by a grand jury next March.

Jeremy Marcum, Elijah Marcum and Melissa Watts, all of Genoa, appeared before a magistrate Tuesday in Wayne following last week’s double stabbing that killed Genoa resident James “Red” Bundy, 77, and seriously injured his wife.

The Marcums are charged with murder—-Melissa Watts is charged with accessory.

A sheriff’s deputy testified Myrtle Bundy told investigators her husband was seeking justice in the theft of their ATV. She said that would be the only reason why the Marcums would want him dead.

The magistrate heard evidence from investigators and forwarded the charges. One of the defendants decided to waive his preliminary hearing. Wayne Prosecutor Tom Plymale said the charges would likely go before a grand jury in March.
