Contest opens for charitable organizations needing website services

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — For the second year, a Charleston internet marketing and website design firm is offering its web design services to one charitable organization in West Virginia free of charge.

“It’s super rewarding and it’s a lot of fun for us to do,” said Jamie Summers-Brown, president of Bricks Without Straw, of the Frank Brown Community Partnership.

Last year, in its inaugural year, the Bob Burdette Center Afterschool Program on Charleston’s West Side was selected.  For the past 12 months, Bricks Without Straw has worked to build the Center’s online presence.

“It’s nice because, up until last year, I’d never heard of the Bob Burdette Center so it gives people that either have a small organization or don’t have that large of a footprint (a chance) to get their name out there,” said Summers-Brown.

Monday was the first day applications were being accepted and Summers-Brown said he was expecting to hear from some strong contenders for services that would include either initial website design and development or redevelopment of an existing brand and website.

“Last year, we were pretty much really surprised of the entries we got and it was super, super difficult to choose just one,” he said. “If we have the resources, I would have done every single one of them.”

For more information, call 304-389-4237 or visit www.BricksWithoutStraw.com. Applications are available on the website.

The application deadline is Dec. 31 and a selection will be made in the New Year.
