Herd football fans grabbing up tickets for C-USA Championship game

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. — On Saturday, Herd football fans will have the opportunity to witness history as Marshall plays host to its first conference championship since joining Conference USA.

Assistant Director of Ticketing Tyler Crockett said they’ve been busy since the official announcement was made that 11-1 East Division Champ Marshall will face off with 8-4 West Division Champ Louisiana Tech in Huntington.

“We had a fantastic online sale over the weekend and we’ve been busy in the office [Monday],” he said. “It’s been really good.”

For the Herd faithful who have been unable to acquire their seat, Crockett said there are multiple avenues in which to do so.

“Calling 800-THE-HERD, if you can’t make it down to the ticket office, we’d be happy to do it over the phone with you that way. If you’re looking to purchase your tickets and get them in hand, then coming to the Cam Henderson Center throughout the week would be the most ideal way to do that.”

The easiest way would arguably be by going to the ticket office’s website.

Herdzone.com is probably the most efficient way for folks to go online and pick their seats,” Crockett said. “They can select their seats online and see what exactly is open.”

Members of the Marshall Maniacs will given one free ticket, while non-member students will be able to purchase a ticket, along with two tickets for guests at the cost of $5.

For all others, sideline tickets are $37 and $27 for endzone seats.

Barring a sell out of the over 38,000-capacity stadium, tickets will also be available the day of the game at the office and later at the stadium.

Crockett said they have already been busier than they would be for a regular season game, and that doesn’t surprise him.

“There’s a lot of excitement. It’s the first championship game that we’ve hosted since 2002, so there’s a pretty big buzz for it and I think a lot of people are definitely excited.”

Kickoff is set between the Thundering Herd and the Bulldogs for noon on Saturday.
