Jessica Woods was arrested in Feb. for killing her mother. She pleaded guilty Wednesday.

Jessica Woods, 36, of St. Albans, entered a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with the Feb. 10 death of Eva Woods, 59. She admitted to second degree murder, concealing a body and conspiracy.

Woods took her mother’s bank card and stole money. She was sentenced to 53-70 years in prison.

Kanawha County Circuit Judge Duke Bloom told Woods she deserved the maximum sentence after she said she choked and strangled her mother.

Woods’ sister spoke at Wednesday’s hearing and said drugs ruined her sister’s life.

A co-defendant in the case, Shawn Legg, pleaded guilty to an accessory charge earlier this year.

Woods also pleaded guilty Wednesday to a separate apartment break-in.
