Herd taking part in Kick-off for Kids toy drive

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Thundering Herd has plenty of smiles on football fans faces this season. This Saturday they are hoping to put a few smiles on the faces of kids in the Huntington, Tri-State area with the “Kick-Off for Kids” toy drive.

“We have the opportunity to put some smiles on kids faces, who normally, during Christmas don’t get a whole lot,” says coach Doc Holliday.

The goal is to fill the tractor-trailer, Marshall usually packs with football equipment, with toys.

“We filled that thing up (a year ago) and our kids did an amazing job and our fans bought in to it,” said Holliday.

Members of the Thundering Herd football team will be on hand Saturday to accept donations along with 93.7 The Dawg radio personality Julie Reeves, who will be broadcasting live.

Fans are asked to bring an unwrapped toy to the Barboursville Wal-Mart, off the I-64 Exit 20, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday. You can also make monetary donations will all the proceeds going towards children in the tri-state area.

“I know our fans rallied around it a year ago and I expect this year to be even bigger and better,” predicted Holliday.
