Man injured in logging accident

HIAWATHA, W.Va. — A Mercer County man was critically injured in a logging accident Tuesday morning on Arista Mountain near Hiawatha.

WVVA-TV reported the victim was Jackie McKinney of Matoaka. First responders had to use ATVs to reach him after the accident was reported at about 9:40 a.m. A medical helicopter responded to a landing zone near the intersection of Route 10 and Route 19.

McKinney is being treated at a Roanoke, Va. hospital.

Details on how the accident happened were not immediately available.
