Missing man found dead in Gauley River

CRAIGSVILLE, W.Va. — A Nicholas County man reported missing was found dead Tuesday evening in the Gauley River.

The Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department said the body of Richard Allen Workman, 48, of Summersville, was found in the river near Craigsville. His car was spotted not far from the river on Woodbine Road Tuesday evening.

Workman was reported missing Saturday, two days after he was last seen by his parents.

Nicholas County Sheriff David Hopkins said the investigation into the death continues but foul play is not suspected.
