Man convicted of killing co-worker dies in prison

MOUNT OLIVE, W.Va. — State corrections officials confirmed Friday a Kanawha County man convicted in a 2010 murder died earlier this week at Mount Olive State Prison.

Chesapeake resident Charlie March, 62, was sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison in Jan. 2013 following the 2010 murder of co-worker Kathy Goble.

The pair worked together at Kelley’s Mens Shop in Charleston for years. March was a well-known shoe salesman.

Goble went missing in March 2010 and on the two-year anniversary of her disappearance human remains were found in March’s yard. He would later say Goble asked him to kill her. Prosecutors said there was no evidence to prove that. He was sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison.

March suffered from a a number of medical issues. He tried to kill himself while he was being held in the South Central Regional Jail.
