CLARKSBURG, W. Va. — Two individuals were arrested Saturday in Harrison County on felony drug charges.
Charles “Chuck” Gaines, 27, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Talaya T. White, 25, of Clarksburg, were apprehended by the Harrison County Street Crimes and Drug Unit along with their patrol division, in cooperation with the Salem Police Department’s K-9 Unit.
According to Chief Deputy Jeff McAtee, Saturday evening, an undercover SCAD deputy met Gaines and White at the Maple View apartment complex in Clarksburg where he purchased a “brick” of heroin –which equates to 50 stamps, or doses– for $500 from them.
Gaines and White then negotiated with the undercover SCAD deputy to borrow his vehicle so that they could travel to Pittsburgh, to purchase more heroin. After this negotiation, Gaines and White where arrested by the SCAD Unit.
At the time of his arrest, Gaines had $16,365 cash in his pockets, of which, $400 was “marked” money used to purchase the brick of heroin by the Undercover SCAD Deputy.
He was just released from a Federal Correctional Facility in Beckley earlier this month where he served time for selling crack cocaine and was on Federal Supervised Release at the time of this arrest.
The two are charged with delivery of heroin, conspiracy to deliver heroin, and conspiracy to transport heroin into the state with intent to distribute.
Gaines and White were arraigned Saturday night by Harrison County Magistrate Warren Davis, who set their bond at $300,000 cash.
