Arrest made in Randolph County sexual assault case

ELKINS, W. Va. — A Randolph County man accused of sexually assaulting an elderly woman earlier in December has been arrested.

Rafael Russell Delgado, 19, of Elkins, was apprehend by officers from the Elkins Police Department Friday after an investigation began on December 14.

Delgado allegedly came to the woman’s home along Davis Avenue –where the woman previously invited him in to provide him meals– and threatened to kill her. He then is alleged to have raped the woman, injured her and then fled the scene.

He is charged with sexual assault in the first degree for sexual intrusion and sexual assault in the second degree.

Delgado is currently in Tygart Valley Regional Jail, with bail at $75,000 on each charge.
