Woman arrested after son found walking alone along I-79 in Lewis County

JANE LEW — After an 11-year-old boy was found walking north along I-79 by himself in Lewis County, his mother has been charged with child abuse.

Faith Jacklin Rucker

Faith Jacklin Rucker, 35, of Clarksburg, is alleged to have kicked her son out of the car Monday after an argument as the two were traveling south on the interstate near the Jane Lew exit.

She later called the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department just before 10 p.m., but did not provide information regarding the boy’s name or his specific location.

Officers continued to search the area until the boy was finally located around 11:30 p.m. walking along the southbound lane, a mile north from the Jane Lew exit.

According to the boy, Rucker told him to go to his father’s house in Clarksburg before driving away.

Authorities eventually caught up to Rucker after she ran out of fuel and pulled into a rest area in Braxton County.

Rucker was arrested early Tuesday, is charged with child abuse with risk of serious injury and is being held at Central Regional Jail with bail set at $100,000.
