CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has chosen biologist Robert Fala as the new director of the state Division of Natural Resources.
Fala, of Logan County, replaces longtime director Frank Jezioro whose retirement became effective Wednesday.
“I’m grateful for Frank Jezioro’s longstanding commitment to our state and his years of service to the people of West Virginia,” Gov. Tomblin said in a news release. “Bob Fala’s professional background not only demonstrates his commitment to ensuring the protection and upkeep of both land and wildlife, but his working knowledge, training, years of experience and interest in a variety of critical issues facing our state’s Division of Natural Resources are exceptional. I look forward to working with him in the new year.”
After graduating from Penn State, Fala began his career as a wildlife conservation officer in Pennsylvania. He’s served as a wildlife biologist in several states including more than 20 years with the WV DEP. Fala has also been a contractor for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Tomblin appointed Fala to the DNR Natural Resource Commission in August.
