Beckley businesswoman to lead DMV

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin named Beckley realtor/broker Patricia Reed as the new commissioner of the state Division of Motor Vehicles Tuesday.

“As an entrepreneur and owner of two successful businesses, Pat Reed has focused her career on leadership and maintaining strong relationships with others. Her years of experience in government as an elected legislator and county commissioner, combined with her business savvy, make her well-equipped and highly qualified for the role of DMV Commissioner,” Tomblin said in a news release.

Reed has been owner-broker of Reed-Patton Real Estate. She also served two in the House of Delegates, 12 years as a Raleigh County commissioner and a stint as deputy commissioner in the state insurance commissioner’s office.

Reed replaces former DMV Commissioner Steve Dale who recently retired.

“I’m grateful for Steve Dale’s years of service to the state of West Virginia and his commitment to moving the DMV forward through the increased online transaction capabilities. I wish him all the best in his years of retirement,” Tomblin said.
