ONA, W.Va. — Cabell Midland junior defensive end Reese Donahue earlier this month took part in one of the more high-profile recruiting camps in the country — the U.S. Army National Combine.
Donahue earned a spot at the combine after taking MVP honors along the defensive line through Top Gun’s camps this past summer.
“This was the best of the best and it was amazing – it was an eye opener,” Donahue said. “I’m extremely confident with how I did. There were some things I didn’t do as well and I could have done better, but it was nice seeing where I stand and that I can keep up with those guys.”
Donahue is listed at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds and is looking to keep putting on more muscle weight this off-season.
“I’m really confident with my strength,” Donahue said. “But it’s one of those things where I can’t just stay the same, I still need to get better at everything. It’s a process. I’ve gained some weight from the off-season – all muscle weight. You just have to hit the weight room hard and hope you grow a little more. I’ve always thought that I could play some linebacker if I needed to as well. I love the game of football and I’ll play anywhere.”
As for his eventual aspirations at the next level?
“Division I is always the dream,” he said. “I’ve always said that I want to go to school and get my college education, to get that paid for. I’ve been in contact, in one form or another, with Charlotte, WVU, Duke, NC State, Cornell, James Madison, Wake Forest, Missouri and Marshall.”
The complete interview with Donahue is posted at the top of the page.
