Accused cop shooter now in North Carolina to face murder charges

OXFORD, N.C. — Accused double murderer Edward Campbell has been returned to North Carolina.

Campbell, 54, was taken from West Virginia by Granville County, N.C. sheriff’s deputies after waiving extradition.

The Alvin, Texas, man is charged with shooting two Lewisburg police officers along Interstate 64 in Greenbrier County on New Year’s Day. Police allege Campbell and his son killed Jerome and Dora Faulkner in their Oxford, N.C., home earlier that day.

The charges against the Campbells in North Carolina include murder, arson and robbery. They are charged with two counts of attempted murder on a police officer in West Virginia.

Eric Campbell, 21, remains in the Southern Regional Jail in West Virginia awaiting the advancement of his case.

Lewisburg officers Lt. Jeromy Dove and patrolman Nicholas Sams recovered from their injuries and reported back to work.

The bodies of the Faulkners was found in the back of their stolen pickup truck following the Lewisburg shootings.
