Kanawha woman in custody on armed robbery charge

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. — Police arrested the woman who they claim robbed the St. Albans Cleaners with a BB pistol this week.

Police said Pamela Payton, 48, of St. Albans, confessed Friday, telling police she committed the robbery for money to fuel her drug addiction.

Investigators said Payton took officers to the dumpster where she tossed the BB pistol after the Monday robbery. Police have recovered most of the money taken.

Payton is charged with first-degree robbery and lodged in the South Central Regional Jail on $75,000 bail.
